Footsie Tootsie Soapery handcrafts its soaps using the traditional cold process method, resulting in a luxurious and nourishing soap bar. We carefully select high-quality oils, butters, pure essential oils, and natural clays to create bars that gently cleanse and moisturize your skin.
This meticulous process requires significant time and preparation. Once a batch is made, the soaps undergo a curing period of 4-6 weeks before they are ready to be shipped to your home. During this time, the water content of the soap evaporates, ensuring a high-quality, 100% natural soap bar.
Lye, also known as Caustic Soda or Sodium Hydroxide, is a crucial ingredient in soapmaking that has been used for centuries. In the cold process method, oils and lye are combined, triggering a chemical reaction known as saponification. This reaction produces glycerin and soap, with soap being the alkali salt of fatty acids. Despite its importance in the soapmaking process, there is no lye left over in the finished product. After saponification is complete, you are left with a beautiful and completely natural botanical soap.
Our exceptional soap formula is crafted using only the finest, sustainably sourced oils, butters, and natural additives. Key ingredients in our soaps include Organic Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Coconut Oil, Pomace Olive Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Lard (Pig Tallow), Shea Butter, Rice Bran Oil, and Organic Castor Oil. For coloring, we use Natural Clays and ethically sourced Mica. Our soaps are scented with pure Essential Oils or Fragrance Oils that are SLS Free, Paraben Free, Phthalate Free, Vegan and Cruelty-free. We purchase from US based companies and support our local farmers whenever possible.
Our soaps are crafted without preservatives, using only 100% natural ingredients. To ensure longevity and optimal storage, please follow these guidelines:
- Allow your soap to dry between uses and use a well-draining soap dish.
- Store away from direct sunlight and humidity.
- Due to the use of pure essential oils or ethically sourced fragrance oils, the scent may fade over time if you store extra soaps for the future. However, the scent will return after the first few uses, as the outer layer loses its fragrance but the inner soap retains it.
- If your soap becomes soft, let it air dry for a day or two to allow the water to evaporate and the bar to harden again.
Store any extra soaps in a cool, dry place to ensure they remain in perfect condition for a long time. Since our soaps are preservative-free, please use them within 12 months.
