A glimpse at our process.

We handcraft each soap using the traditional cold process method, resulting in luxurious and nourishing bars that are gentle on your skin. We are proud to announce that we source beef fat which we render into tallow from our local farmers, ensuring our soaps are made with sustainably harvested, high-quality ingredients. We have phased out the use of palm oil, staying true to our commitment to sustainability and community support.

Our soaps are crafted with carefully selected oils, butters, pure essential oils, and natural clays, all chosen for their skin-loving properties. This meticulous process requires significant time and preparation. Once a batch is made, the soaps undergo a curing period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the water content evaporates, ensuring a long-lasting, 100% natural soap bar that is ready to be shipped to your home.

Lye, also known as Caustic Soda or Sodium Hydroxide, plays a crucial role in soapmaking, a practice that has been perfected over centuries. In the cold process method, we combine oils and lye, triggering a chemical reaction known as saponification. This reaction produces glycerin and soap, leaving no lye in the finished product. The result is a beautiful, all-natural botanical soap that cleanses and nourishes your skin with every use.

What is Tallow? Why is is great for your skin?

At Footsie Tootsie Soapery, we believe in crafting skincare products that nourish, protect, and respect both your skin and the environment. Our handcrafted Tallow Soap is a time-honored tradition, made from locally sourced, pasture-raised beef tallow from North Carolina farmers. For centuries, tallow has been prized for its deeply moisturizing, skin-loving properties, making it an exceptional choice for natural skincare.

The Benefits of Our Tallow Soap

Deep Hydration & Moisture Lock
Tallow is a natural emollient, meaning it helps seal in moisture and protect the skin’s barrier. Our soap gently cleanses while preventing dryness, leaving your skin feeling soft, smooth, and well-hydrated.

Nutrient-Rich for Healthy Skin
Packed with essential fatty acids, vitamins A, D, E, and K, tallow deeply nourishes the skin, promoting cell regeneration, elasticity, and an overall healthy, youthful glow.

Gentle & Soothing
Unlike commercial soaps filled with harsh chemicals, our pure tallow soap provides a rich, creamy lather while gently cleansing without stripping your skin’s natural oils. It’s perfect for sensitive skin and those prone to irritation.

Sustainable & Eco-Friendly
By rendering our own locally sourced tallow, we utilize a natural by-product of the meat industry, reducing waste and embracing a zero-waste, sustainable approach to skincare.

Handcrafted with Care
Each batch of our Tallow Soap is artisan-crafted in small quantities to ensure quality and attention to detail. We take pride in creating simple, natural, and effective skincare that you can trust.

Naturally Colored, Earth-Toned Beauty

At Footsie Tootsie Soapery, we achieve stunning purples, blues, and pinks using nature’s gifts like indigo, pink clay, activated charcoal, alkanet, and rhubarb, keeping our soaps beautifully earth-toned and 100% natural.

Experience the luxury of handcrafted, all-natural tallow soap—your skin will thank you!

How to Store Natural Soap

Our soaps are crafted without preservatives, using only 100% natural ingredients. To ensure longevity and optimal storage, please follow these guidelines:

Allow your soap to dry between uses and use a well-draining soap dish.

Store away from direct sunlight and humidity.

Due to the use of pure essential oils or ethically sourced fragrance oils, the scent may fade over time if you store extra soaps for the future. However, the scent will return after the first few uses, as the outer layer loses its fragrance but the inner soap retains it.

If your soap becomes soft, let it air dry for a day or two to allow the water to evaporate and the bar to harden again.

Store any extra soaps in a cool, dry place to ensure they remain in perfect condition for a long time. Since our soaps are preservative-free, please use them within 12-24 months.
